11th Street Bridge Park

Across the Anacostia River, two accessible paths overlap to form 11th Street Bridge Park, a new public space for Building Bridges Across the River and the District Department of Transportation, developed with landscape architect OLIN. The crossing creates a central plaza, gardens, and elevated lookouts while reconnecting two historically divided communities. Since leading the winning competition proposal in 2015, Yusef worked on the project for more than a decade as Project Architect and Associate in Charge. Its design was developed through close collaboration with residents, community organizations, public agencies, and other stakeholders. The park is scheduled to open in late 2027.
